Dental Implants

Missing teeth can cause a variety of difficulties, from impaired eating and speaking, to shifting of the remaining teeth. Whether one tooth is missing or all teeth are unsalvageable, dental implants are a strong, long-lasting replacement option. Dental implants consist of a synthetic tooth root, frequently made of titanium, on top of which a dental implant crown (replacement tooth) is attached. In addition to replacing missing teeth, implants can also be used to secure removable appliances, such as bridges, dentures, and partials. Dental implants are natural looking and provide significantly improved chewing power than previous alternatives.

The placement of dental implants at our Denver area practice is usually done in three phrases. First, the artificial root is surgically placed in the jawbone. After a period of healing, a temporary abutment (temporary replacement tooth) is placed on the artificial root. Finally, the implant crown (permanent replacement tooth) is attached to the implanted root. With proper care, dental implants can last throughout the patient's lifetime. If the artificial dental crown does become damaged, a new implant crown can be placed on the existing implant.

Implant Secured Dentures

Dental implants can help rid denture wearers of the struggle of loose, ill-fitting dentures. The procedure helps stabilize dentures by attaching the partial or full set to several implants placed within the jawbone, much like the procedure for a single tooth. Once the dentures are snapped to your implants, you will no longer need messy adhesives to keep them in place.

Dental implants are a long-term solution to the problem of missing teeth. Dr. D'Amico has advanced training in implant dentistry and can place dental implants for their Denver area patients. Please contact D'Amico and Associates, D.D.S. for more information.

Dental Bridges

Fixed dental bridges offer our Centennial, Colorado area patients an alternative to dental implants for the replacement of missing teeth. Bridges can take the place of a single tooth or several teeth and create a look that is beautiful and natural.

The bridge is an artificial tooth fused between crowns that are attached to surrounding natural teeth. By filling the gap left by a missing tooth, bridges help to prevent surrounding teeth from shifting out of place.

Dental bridges can become a natural-looking part of your smile with two visits to our Centennial, Colorado area practice. During the first visit, dental crowns are placed on the surrounding teeth and an impression is created in order to custom craft the bridge. A temporary bridge will be worn in between appointments. In a second visit, the dental bridge is fitted and then fused to the teeth, creating a long-lasting fixed bridge. In addition to creating a more beautiful smile, dental bridges help correct bites, improve speech, and reduce the risk of gum disease and tooth decay, which increases when teeth are missing. With good oral hygiene, dental bridges are a long-lasting solution to missing teeth.

Full Mouth Reconstructive Care

Some patients need more than just basic restorative work and may require a combination of treatments, including dental crowns, dental implants and dental bridges. Fortunately, Dr. D'Amico has advanced training in full mouth restorative care and are able to treat even the most complex cases. At the Foundation for Advanced Continuing Education (FACE), both doctors completed postgraduate training, specifically in the area of full mouth reconstructive care.

Full mouth reconstruction involves a number of important steps, beginning with proper diagnosis. Position of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), development of the occlusion (bite), correction of any malocclusion, and restoration of the teeth are all pieces in the puzzle of full mouth rehabilitation.

Because full mouth reconstructive care often requires that a number of options be combined, such as dental crowns, dental implants, and dental bridges, it is important to choose a doctor with specialized training. Dr. D'Amico has approximately 30 years of experience as well as advanced training in full mouth reconstruction. He takes the gnathologic reconstruction approach to his procedures, emphasizing the importance of proper occlusion (bite) and TMJ management for the best possible results.

With a combination of procedures, including the application of porcelain dental crowns, implants, and dental bridges at our practice near Aurora, Denver, and Centennial, Colorado, Dr. D’Amico can restore your beautiful smile. If you believe that you may be a candidate for this type of care, please contact us today!

Phase One Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal disease, known as gingivitis in the beginning stages and periodontitis in progressed stages, is a leading cause of tooth loss. To help save your teeth, early diagnosis of these gum diseases and a proper treatment plan are essential.

As part of Phase One Periodontal Therapy, Dr. D’Amico will examine your teeth for signs of periodontal disease, such as red, swollen gums that bleed easily, receded gums, or loose teeth. If you are experiencing the early stages of periodontal disease, our dentists will create a treatment plan to help reverse the effects of the disease and give you tools and techniques to keep your teeth healthy.

Regular professional teeth cleanings, brushing, and flossing are your best defenses against these gum diseases. Periodontal therapy can be combined with other restorative treatments, such as dental crowns, dental bridges, and dental implants, to restore your beautiful, healthy smile.

Restorative Laser Dentistry

Our cosmetic dentist, Dr. D’Amico, uses lasers in a variety of restorative dental procedures, including sculpting and reconstructing soft tissue (gums). Using lasers during restorative procedures reduces the need for local anesthesia, minimizes bleeding, and decreases discomfort during recovery. Our DIAGNOdent® laser cavity detection system also utilizes a laser to detect cavities in their earliest stages, before they are visible to the naked eye.
